A First Timer’s Guide to Japan

A First Timer’s Guide to Japan

Japan is beautiful year-round, but your experience will vary depending on when you go. Here’s a sneak peek at the ideal time to visit Japan:

Spring (March – May): Aka, the best time to see cherry blossoms in Japan. As beauty blooms across the country, this is undoubtedly the peak tourist season – expect higher prices, larger crowds, and mild, rainy weather. Still, the stunning scenery makes it all worthwhile.

Summer (June – August): Expect lush green landscapes and vibrant festivals like Gion Matsuri in Kyoto and the Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival in Tokyo. It’s hot and humid, especially in cities, but it’s worth it for these unique cultural experiences.

Autumn (September – November): Enjoy warm to mild weather and stunning autumn foliage, especially in areas like Kyoto and Sapporo. A fantastic time for scenic walks and temple visits.

Winter (December – February): Fewer tourists, snow-covered temples, and top-notch skiing in Hokkaido. Onsens (traditional hot springs) are especially delightful this time of year.
