How to Get the Cheapest Tickets for Alton Towers (+ 11 Money Saving Tips)

Walk up ticket prices for Alton Towers are so expensive. I’ve been on a quest to find cheap Alton Towers tickets for a family trip so have checked every offer around. Here are the results.

I needed to find out how to get the cheapest tickets for Alton Towers for our recent family trip. My boyfriend and I have Merlin passes, we we were alright, but I wanted to find the best prices for my brother and his family.

If you walk up and buy, tickets for Alton Towers can easily creep past £60 per person. Please don’t spend that much! I’ve looked into all the promises of money off Alton Towers tickets online to find the actual best deal for you to book.

The best price comes in at considerably less meaning the difference between paying full price and getting a deal at Alton Towers can be hundreds of pounds for a family.

The best discounts on Alton Towers tickets

This is all for Friday 17th April, and correct on 8th April 2026 per person. I have checked all of these, and as you’ll see, some just aren’t true.

My brother went for the DaysOutGuide hack, clearly the cheapest option for Alton Towers tickets. We had a great day and given that we were there with our 4 and 5 year olds, felt a bit better about paying that amount of money for the kiddie rides rather than full price.

1. Book in advance (midweek) for the cheapest prices

The number one rule for cheap Alton Towers tickets is simple: do not turn up on the day and pay at the gate.

Buying tickets in advance online can save you a huge chunk. Prices usually start from around £29 to £35 if you book early, compared to £60 plus on the day. It’s currently showing as £68.

Weekends and school holidays will always cost more, so if you can go midweek during term time, you’ll get the best deal.

Top tip: Book at least a week ahead for the lowest prices. Even a few days can make a difference.

2. Use 2 for 1 vouchers and discount codes

This is one of the easiest ways to halve the cost of your ticket.

You’ll often find 2 for 1 Alton Towers vouchers on everyday products like:

• Cereal boxes from Kellogg’s
• Chocolate bars from Cadbury
• Promotional ‘Days Out’ leaflets

Just remember you still need to pre-book online and enter your voucher code. You can’t just turn up with the wrapper. When I needed the tickets, I couldn’t find any soap, chocolate bars or Kellogg’s boxes with the deals in my local Tesco and Asda, but apparently they’re out there!

3. Check for official Alton Towers deals

The official Alton Towers Resort website often runs deals. Look out for:

• Early bird ticket sales
• Family bundle discounts
• Off-peak pricing
• Seasonal offers like Scarefest or Oktoberfest deals

Sometimes they also offer short break packages where you get park tickets included with a hotel stay. These can actually work out cheaper than buying everything separately.

4. Consider a Merlin Annual Pass

If you’re planning more than one theme park trip this year, a Merlin Annual Pass can save you a lot. This is what I have. I actually picked up our pass in a deal they were running a while ago where you could get free Annual Merlin Passes when you booked a night’s accommodation. So, I paid £319 for a night at Splash Landings Hotel, and got three of these for free (check out my Instagram video for the details).

Keep an eye out for a similar offer in the future.

The pass gives access to multiple attractions including:

• Alton Towers
• LEGOLAND Windsor
• SEA LIFE London Aquarium

Prices vary depending on restrictions, but if you go even two or three times in a year, it can pay for itself.

5. Look for short break packages

Booking a hotel stay at Alton Towers can actually work out cheaper per day than buying tickets alone, especially for families.

Packages often include:

• One or two days of park entry
• Early ride access
• Entertainment and extras

Hotels like the Splash Landings Hotel or CBeebies Land Hotel regularly have deals if you book in advance.

When I priced it up before, a one-night stay with park tickets worked out not far off the cost of day tickets for three people. Plus you get the whole experience, which is way more fun.

6. Book on a cashback site

Sometimes you can find extra savings through cashback or discount sites.

Look at:

• Cashback platforms like TopCashback (currently 2.5% back on the official Alton Towers website, but then you don’t get the deals I listed above.)

More ways to save money at Alton Towers

It’s not just the ticket price that gets you. It’s everything else.

• Bring your own food and snacks (this can add up, fast!)
• Skip fast track passes unless you really need them (you won’t off peak)
• Set a budget for souvenirs before you go
• Book standard parking in advance for £13, or it’s £15 on the day.
